bullet In September of 2003, Ethel was privileged to go to Morocco and spend two months working with Dr. Frappier, veterinarian at the American Fondouk in Fez. There she gained experience in working with the animals of Morocco, particularly donkeys and mules, and participating in treatment of diseases and conditions not normally seen in the United States. It was a life-changing experience for her and enabled her to see a side of veterinary medicine that would not have been possible in the United States.

bullet In early June of 2002, Ethel accompanied Dr. Nora Matthews to Mexico City. There they joined veterinarians from the Donkey Sanctuary on some of their trips to the markets. On some of these trips they provided field anesthesia for donkeys, using protocols developed by a research project completed during the summer of 2001.
