It is with great pride and enthusiasm that we at Bramoth Farm announce the acquisition of Jarratt Farms breeding stock. Joe and Jane Jarratt have devoted many years to upgrading size and quality of their spotted mammoth jackstock. It could be argued, but we feel they have the best and largest herd of spotted stock in the United States today. We are indeed privileged to have this opportunity to continue their work. We sincerely hope we can be capable stewards of these resources they have so graciously placed in our care.
The development of their present strain of jackstock has integrated the genetics of two prominent jacks, Rosser’s J.J. and Wigfield Pete. Each of these jacks have contributed their own special and unique qualities to the herd.
As we at Bramoth Farm fantasize about how we will follow in Joe and Jane’s footsteps, we are forced to recognize that this expansion of our spotted stock is in addition to, and not in place of, our black jackstock breeding program. This means that we must, in the coming months, offer some animals for sale that would not be available if we were not combining the two herds. We have not yet transported the spotted stock to our farm, nor have we had the chance to do a good evaluation of each animal and how they may fit our breeding program. Our initial plans for the spotted portion of our herd is to utilize Jarratt’s Jubilee, a son of Wigfield Pete, as the sire, and maintain a group of Rosser’s J.J. daughters as brood jennets.
The Jarratts still have a few quality young jacks which, no doubt, will soon find new homes, and we truly hope the Jarratts will continue to be fans and supporters of the donkey industry. Although one could write volumes on what they have done for the donkey breed and their enthusiasts, Joe and Jane would likely be more appreciative of a great big heartfelt THANK YOU from us all.
Thank You Joe and Jane from Bramoth Farm !!!
We will try to be deserving of the confidence you have place in us.
