Dr. Tex Taylor's Bramoth Farm

AND FOR COLOR

John Henry is a new comer to Bramoth Farms. He is a 6 year old donkey that stands 14.3 HH. The Taylors found him in Tennessee and brought him home to breed to their red jennies. He has large white markings on his forehead. The sorrel is a very popular color and most of these sorrel mammoths at Bramoth Farm are Australian-type donkeys. Dr. Tex Taylor’s goal is to produce a better quality Red  mammoth because they are not only being used around the country to sire Draft mules, but he is exporting some jacks to Central and South America to produce a larger saddle mule for use on the large cattle ranches.

John Henry replaces Colorado Star who recently died. Colorado was the Taylor’s primary sorrel mammoth jack for many years and his daughters are still in the breeding herd.

Dr. Taylor has another jack (not pictured)  named  21 Black Jack, that’s no kidding folks, is well over 16 hands. At 66 inches now, and he may be through growing, Black Jack has sure got the height. Dr. Taylor is using him in the breeding program on a limited basis at this time because he’s an example of what happened to mammoth stock around the country when people bred strictly to increase the size of the animal. To obtain the giants, some of the quality was sacrificed. Black Jack  is not as balanced in his bone structure, nor as fine in his general quality. His temperament is gentle and quiet and his bloodline included sorrel stock, so he is being introduced to the herd on a trial basis. Dr. Taylor would prefer to have a 14.3-15.2 HH donkey of superior refinement than a 16 HH or taller animal if it doesn’t meet his requirements. He is seriously trying to have only the finest mammoth stock.
